Ellen Nicholson

Registered Nurse and Queen's Nurse, National Safety and Learning Lead, Royal College of Nursing
Ellen Nicholson, RN, QN, is a registered nurse and Queens nurse who works for NHS Resolution as the Safety and Learning Lead for General Practice across England. Her role is to collaborate with General Practice, to maximize learning from claims, reduce any future harm and support early and effective engagement within primary care. Ellen is also co-chair of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) General Practice Nursing Forum. As a Queens Nurse and RCN member, Ellen is passionate about primary care and improving patient care through lessons learnt, education and sharing insight with the workforce to ensure delivery of safe and effective patient services. Ellen holds a BSc (Hons) in Social Science, focusing on politics, and a BSc (Hons) as a Nurse Practitioner and non-medical prescriber (V300) and a Masters in Advanced Practice, specialising in Management and Leadership. Ellen’s career as a registered nurse has led her to work across a variety of NHS organisations and independent contractors in Southern England, London and abroad. Prior to being appointed to NHS Resolution in 2020, she has worked across directorates in primary, secondary and community care in a variety of senior roles, focusing on patient safety, quality improvement and transformation, education and the nursing workforce.
